Trigonometry

A Real-Life Application

Introduction | Task | Process | Evaluation | Conclusion

What is trigonometry? Why was it invented? How can I apply to my life today? These are all questions you may be asking as you begin the unit. Trigonometry is a branch of math that deals mainly with right triangles, and the relationships between their sides and angles. This branch was originally invented as a system for astronomers to track the stars, however, its has been applied to many other modern day occupations. Most people don't realize the impact that trigonometry has on their lives, and it is your job to help them understand it. The unit circle is the basic foundation for all trigonometric functions, and therefore is a essential to many professions, as you have learned throughout this unit.  In this web quest you will build a model that represents the unit circle, as well as present a persuasive argument as to why this model would be a worthwhile contribution to the town's Learning Center.
